There is little doubt that the Ford Mustang is still going strong after 50 years on the road. On December 5th, 2013, car enthusiasts previewed the 2015 Ford Mustang model, representing the 50th year that the Mustang will be produced. Ford has certainly pulled out all the stops, revealing the new Mustang at events around the world to celebrate the half-century that it has been a part of the Ford family of vehicles.

While the Mustang has never been Ford’s biggest selling vehicle, it is part of the Ford brand and one of the most recognized names in the automotive industry. Since 1964, over 9 million Mustangs have been sold. The Mustang has over 300 fan clubs across the globe and has been featured in famous TV series like “Charlie’s Angels” and was driven by the King of Cool, Steve McQueen in films like “Bullitt”.

The reputation of the Ford Mustang is certainly one of the best in the industry when it comes to sports cars.  Having enjoyed several generations that included smaller, sportier designs to bigger muscle cars, the Ford Mustang continues to evolve with changing technology and to meet the demands of their customer base.

The Features of the 2015 Ford Mustang

This new version takes many of the classic features of the Mustangs of the past to incorporate them into the frame of the vehicle, including using the old Mustang logo as well. But the 2015 version is also distinctive unto its own as well. Lower and wider than previous models, this Mustang features the same signature headlights, but they are set back more into the front end than before. While still reminiscent of the 2005 version, this Mustang is more modern and muscular.
There will be three different types of engines available for the 2015 Ford Mustang, they include a 3.7L V6 engine that obtains 300 hp, a 5.0L V8 with 420 hp and a smaller 2.3L EcoBoost four cylinder that gets 305 hp. This will be the first Mustang with independent rear suspension and loads of new options, including stability control, blind-spot detection, toggle switches that adjust how the vehicle is steered and a new interior with brushed aluminum instead of the standard plastics along with analog dials.

The Future of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Although the price of the new Mustang has not been revealed, the current model sells for roughly $23,000. Ford is hoping that this new version of the Mustang can regain its position as the top selling pony car in the US. Currently, the Chevrolet Camaro, which actually was first released two years after the original Mustang, has been outselling its rival for the past three years.

Fresh, new and with a promising redesign, the 2015 Ford Mustang looks to recapture its old glory while setting new standards for sports vehicles. The sleeker, more muscular appearance along with advanced technical features has Ford hoping that this new version reminds consumers of the Mustang’s glorious past while setting its sights on the future.

  1. Oh how I love ford mustangs. The picture above highlights the pure beauty of the headlights of this vehicle. Its interesting to know that Ford is not far behind the so called big boys wen it comes to technology. What surprised me about this article was the EcoBoost mustang with 305 hp. WOW! Its a good thing the mustang has these great headlights to see at night while speeding around the city!

  2. The Ford Mustang has to be one of my very favorite cars. This 2015 model is a beauty, especially the little throwback they've included to the older style headlights from years gone by. I don't think I could ever be called an auto lighting aficionado pouring over the finer points of auto lamps (say that 5 times fast!), but I know what I like and I like a little retro throwback in my modern cars. Ford's choice of head light adds a little class to the 2015 Mustang and I love it. Now all I need to do is rob that bank and I can pick one up for myself!

  3. After reading this and thinking about Bullitt I did a little research. Turns out the Mustang was in more than 500 movies since its release. Some of the others were Diamonds Are Forever, Gone in 60 Seconds and Back to the Future II.

  4. The new Ford Mustang looks very sweet indeed. The old style headlights are a unique twist on a new design, brings it a little bit of that old Mustang charm back into the experience. If I had the cash, I'd definitely be looking more than twice at the 2015 Ford Mustang model.
